Regular aerobic exercise also helps adults maintain independence, improve cognitive health, balance, mobility and reduces the effects of arthritis.

More Information

Each session (limited to 20 people) includes:

Medically supervised walking program by a Registered Kinesiologist:

  • Rain or shine! (NOTE: if thunderstorm or lightning, session will be cancelled)

  • Walking - up to 30 minutes (with rest breaks as often as needed) on paved path
  • Cooldown with Stretching - 15 minutes
  • Heart health education - 15 minutes 

No equipment required

  • A red participant lanyard will be provided 
  • Wear comfortable shoes and clothing for walking outdoors.
  • Wear sunscreen and a hat as needed.
  • Bring a bottle of water to keep hydrated
  • If you have diabetes, bring a snack or glucose tablets along with your glucometer
  • If you use mobility aids for support (eg. rollator walker. cane), it is recommended that you bring it with you to walk

Appropriate for all fitness levels

This program is suitable for beginners of all ages. Also appropriate for those wanting to maintain consistent exercise in a structured group format.

Knowing you are not alone is life-changing! The Heart at the Park program is ideal if you are looking for a walking group that can provide motivation, friendship and encouragement.
